Exercise physiology is an allied health profession that specialises in the clinical use of exercise as an intervention for various injuries and chronic conditions. AEPs are university-qualified, have extensive clinical experience and have strict accreditation requirements as outlined by ESSA (Exercise and Sports Science Australia). They are registered with Medicare Australia, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and WorkCover and recognised by private health insurance funds.

110 min 300x200 - Exercise Physiology Adelaide: Finding Exercise Physiology AdelaideAn AEP aims to help you reclaim your fitness and well-being by delivering tailored exercise programs designed with your specific goals in mind. These are aimed at reducing pain and improving mobility, strength and endurance. They are also designed to help you manage your ongoing medical condition or disability. They are constructed with your input and a more comprehensive support network, including other healthcare providers.

Your AEP will take the time to listen to your concerns and discuss how best to help you with your condition or injury. They will review your health and lifestyle history, conduct a physical assessment and then create an exercise program to suit you and your goals. This may include a combination of one-on-one consultations, group classes, or exercise prescriptions to help you recover at home.

AEPs work closely with Physiotherapists, Podiatrists and GPs to develop and implement strength and conditioning programs for athletes in training. They also work with musculoskeletal rehabilitation clinics providing gym-based rehabilitative exercise to patients post-surgery or injured workers in preparation for return to employment or sport.
